Weddings

By Samantha Wyrick Photography

Welcome!

Weddings are where I got my start, where I fell in love with photography. Around 2011, a friend needed a wedding photographer, and I thought I knew what I was doing. So, I volunteered. Since then, I've learned so much, witnessed the growth in my work and skills, and met so many wonderful couples.

I am still amazed when a couple chooses me to capture their most special day, and I don't take that lightly. I am serious about providing a top-notch experience for each couple and delivering the very best images. When you book with SWP, you don't have to worry about wedding photography. We are on the way!

What to Expect When You Book

Get to know me

Take advantage of a complementary consultation if for no other reason than to get to know me. We can do a video call, phone call, or coffee. Feel free to ask me anything!

Engagement Session

As soon as you're finished with your contract, we will set a date for your engagement session. I include these with every package as an extra means to get to know my clients and so my clients can get comfortable working with me. If you add any other pre-wedding sessions to your package, we'll book them right away as well.

Timeline Prep

A month or so before your wedding, I will reach out to you or your planner to begin creating your wedding day timeline and any other lists you'd like me to have on hand for your wedding day. Timelines are not set in stone and are used to guide the day.

It's the wedding day!

Depending on the number of hours you've booked, we'll show up between 2 and 6 hours before the ceremony time and we stay until our allotted time is up or we are excused by the bride and groom.

and lastly...

Your images are delivered

The last part of our wedding journey is delivering your images. All weddings are delivered via online gallery with a print release. Turnaround time depends on the workload of the current season. Peak months are May, June, September, October, and November. Galleries take between 6 and 12 weeks if shot during these months. Any other time, it takes around 6 weeks. Any delays are communicated with the couple.

FAQ

What style(s) do you specialize in?

For weddings, I like a mix of classic and journalistic. I love to make sure you get portraits with all the important people and I like the little moments too. My editing style is a hair on the dark and moody side with rich colors and slightly warm tones.

Do you have backup photographers who will shoot the wedding if you’re sick?

Yes. I am part of a network of local photographers who would be happy to shoot in my place if they’re free. Of the 140 weddings I have shot, I’ve only needed someone to work in my place about 3 times.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day, and time of year to shoot?

My favorite part of the wedding day is seeing the newly married couple walk down the aisle after the ceremony. There’s so much excitement in that moment. I think it’s precious. I love to shoot weddings in the fall but any time of year is great for me. Winter weddings are also a favorite just because its cold and we might get lucky and see some snow!

Do you follow a shot list?

I guess you could say I do. It’s more of a mental shot list. Sometimes, I will bring a physical list if I know the wedding party is larger or there are lots of family members who need to be included.
